Lawyers in Jharkhand to remain away from legal works on Tuesday

Ranchi: Protesting against the beating of the Palamu district bar association president and senior lawyer Sachidanand Tiwari by District and Sessions Judge of Daltonganj Pankaj Kumar lawyers in the state will remain away from legal works on Tuesday.

A decision in this regard was taken in the executive committee meeting of the state bar council which was held here. It was also decided to form a four-member committee that will visit Daltonganj and interact with the victim and other lawyers and submit a report in this regard.

The Jharkhand State Bar Council also condemned the attack which took place on the premises of the Daltonganj civil court on February 15. It said that the incident was a reflection of the arrogant and above law attitude of some of the judicial officers towards the advocates.

The meeting unanimously decided that all lawyers practicing in the high court, district court and sub-divisional courts will abstain from judicial work peacefully on Tuesday.
