Drizzle increases chill, state to remain in grip of cold wave after clouds make way out for clear skies

Ranchi: The frequent spells of drizzle in different parts of the state today increased the cold as the mercury went down further, however, the weather department has predicted that the cloud cover would be lifted from the state in the course of the next 24 hours.

The MET in its prediction has said that once the clouds clear the state will be under the grip of the cold waves.

The maximum temperature of Ranchi was recorded around 16 degree Celsius while the minimum hovered around the 11 degree Celsius mark.

Due to the sudden decline in the temperature a woman died in Birsa Nagar Basti under Sonari Police Station area of Jamshedpur.

The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained. On the reports from other districts of the state including Bokaro, Dhanbad, Palamu and Garhwa said that sporadic spells of showers created problems for the people.

The weatherman said that due to western disturbance the state was under cloud cover and rainfall was taking place. In the last 24 hours Palkot in Gumla had recorded 6.4 mm of rainfall while North-Western and Southern regions of the state in the morning recorded light to medium range of fog.

The scientists at the Ranchi MET claimed that since a low pressure was built up in the Bay of Bengal therefore in Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha the weather has taken a U-turn due to which these states were under cloud cover and also receiving rainfall.
