Budget 2020 is against the expectations of Common People: Hemant Soren

Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that the Budget 2020 tabled in the Lok Sabha by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is against the wishes of the common people.

Talking to the press at his residence here over the Budget he said the Union Minister in her nearly three-hour long speech did not spell about the preparations which the central government has done to tackle the challenges of poverty, inflation and unemployment. He said that that the budget is disappointing for the poor, farmers, workers, unemployed and the youth.

He said that economists are making a study of the budget and after that only it can be said as to whether the budget can ensure the development of the nation, how much expectations of the people will be fulfilled and what impact it will have on the economy. However, as far as he was concerned from no point this budget of the central government is visionary.

The Chief Minister said that the Budget has been prepared to keep into account the interests of the corporate and industrial houses. He said that corporate houses who indulge in tax evasion for them relief has been provided as no after being caught they would be neither forced to give penalty nor interest.

Hemant said that the middle class has been given minor relief in the budget with an increase in income tax. He said that the rebate which was being expected by the people in the IT slabs has been set aside. The Chief Minister said that in the budget more stress has been given on privatization of public assets which is not in the interest of the nation.

Adding further he said that the general budget lacks vision and is also directionless as there is no mention as to how the country and the people will be taken on the path of progress. Moreover, he said that there was also no mention of the expenditure which will be done in the different sectors. He said that the budget was dedicated to the corporate while the only consolation has been given to the common people.

He said that in his meeting with the Prime Minister he had demanded to open a tribal university in the state but in the budget, a tribal museum has been given. On the other hand, all the long pending demands of the state have for yet another occasion ignored in the budget and once again the tribals have been cheated.
