ED attaches assets totaling Rs 1.66 cr in a Chit Fund case

Ranchi: The Enforcement Directorate has attached movable and immovable properties worth Rs 1.66 crore under the prevention of money laundering act 2002 in a case of cheating and siphoning of public money in Jharkhand as well as some other States by alluring the investors by the way of offering handsome returns periodically on their investment made with the company.

The attached assets include in movable and immovable properties held in the name of Jitendra Mohan Vishal Kumar Sinha Prashant Kumar of MS DJN Jewellers Ram Kishun Thakur and other sister concerns of DJN group.

The immovable properties are located at Garhwa, Latehar and Ranchi districts of the state and immovable properties in form of bank balance to the tune of Rs 5.73 lakh lying 14 bank accounts as well as five vehicles worth Rs 59.57 lakh.

An FIR in this connection was lodged at Lalpur police station in case number 220/2016 under different sections of the IPC against the culprits.

As part of their modus operandi DJN commodities offline collected public deposits in the name of online trading with a promise to offer handsome returns at a high rate of interest per month but the suspect persons were indulged in money circulation activity and they falsely and fraudulently gave a rose picture to the investors about the sound financial help of the company.

The accused persons in pursuance of their criminal conspiracy got involved in ingenious schemes of recurring deposits in jewelry shops as well to dupe investors of their hard-earned money.

The investigation under PMLA was conducted and properties worth Rs 1.66 crore were identified which were later attached.
