Election Commission directs to keep eye on misuse of money and muscle power

Ranchi: A team of the Election Commission of India chaired a meeting with the enforcement agencies during which it directed to keep an eye on the use of money and muscle power and also on such elements who may try to influence the voters.

Secretary General Umesh Sinha and Deputy Election Commissioner Sudeep Jain collected information from nodal officers of the enforcement agencies regarding their preparations in wake of the elections during which they were informed that more than hundred Income Tax officers have been deployed in different districts who are working in coordination with the district electoral officer and the superintendent of police and will take action against illegal cash and for this a toll free number has been also made, apart from that a Special Task Force for conducting raids has been also constituted whose regular monitoring will be done by Additional Chief Electoral officer Kripananda Jha.

Chairman of the state-level bankers committee said that over suspicious transactions all banks have been directed to share the information in this regard with the respective district electoral officer.

The team of the election commission directed the Divisional Railway manager to make necessary arrangements regarding the movement of the polling parties and security forces during the time of the elections on which the official said that in this regard all necessary arrangements are being made and even the Railway Security force has been directed to be prepared.

On the other hand, the director of Birsa Munda airport informed that through the control Tower and eye will be maintained on all the non scheduled flights whereas in the airport premises and X-ray machine has also been put up in the arrival hall to check the luggage.

The Nodal Officer of the BSNL informed the team of the election commission that all necessary steps have been taken to ensure availability of network so that communication remains better during the elections while on the other hand the excise and Prohibition Department was asked to take necessary steps to prevent the use of illegal liquor and other Contraband substance.

The team of the election commission directed the transport commissioner to make arrangements of the vehicles as per the requirement and has also asked the information and Public Relations department to create a special focus on voter awareness campaign and suggested that apart from traditional means of communication social media should also be used.

After this Mr Sinha and Mr Sandeep Jain held a separate meeting with chief secretary DK Tiwari and DGP K N Choubey regarding the preparations for the elections.

Later in a press interaction, they shared information regarding the issues which were brought before the commission as part of preparations for the polls and also shed light on the various new provisions which have been implemented by the election commission in these elections.
