CS holds deliberations with EC over polls, demands 250 companies of para military forces

Ranchi: Chief Secretary DK Tiwari chaired a high level meeting with officials of the election commission to assess the preparations for the upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections in the state.

During the meeting Mr Tiwari said that after peaceful conclusion of the Lok Sabha polls it was important to conduct assembly polls without any trouble. He said that if elections are held in the Maoist hit state in different phases than it will be easy to complete the election process and it will be also easy to complete the election process.

Deputy Election Commissioner Sudeep Jain said that whatever suggestions have been received from the political parties Administrative officials and other inputs would be kept before the commission and whatever necessary for the conduct of peaceful elections will be done by the commission.

The state government has demanded to provide 250 companies of para military forces keeping in mind the requirements of the present and experience of the past. The Chief Secretary said that it would be better if the jawans are from Hindi speaking belt as it will also prevent misunderstandings while working at the lower levels.

He asked the commission to make sure that during elections in the state the police on the bordering areas of different states are on an alert mood. He asked DGP Kamal Nayan Choubey to keep all the issues related to law and order before the election commission during a meeting on October 23 in New Delhi.

The Chief Secretary also pointed out that due to different reasons changing of booths creates lots of problems for the people and it was agreed that the booths will be decided before the time. The Home department informed the commission that all police inspectors who were posted in one area for more than three years have been transferred and in other departments also the process has been completed.
