India thrash England by 203 runs in 3rd Test

India kept their hopes alive in the five-match Test series against England with a convincing 203-run victory in the third Test at Trent Bridge on Wednesday.

Chasing a daunting target of 521, England resumed their second innings at 311/9 but could add only six more runs before losing their final wicket. Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin dismissed James Anderson for 11, bringing England's innings to an end at 317.

India's victory reduced England's advantage in the series to 2-1 and gave the visitors a much-needed boost after losing the opening two Tests.

England's resistance in the second innings was led by Jos Buttler, who scored a fighting 106, while Ben Stokes contributed 62. However, India's bowlers maintained the pressure and eventually wrapped up the innings.

Jasprit Bumrah was the standout bowler for India, claiming 5/85, while Ishant Sharma provided strong support with 2/70. Their efforts ensured that England could not complete what would have been a remarkable chase after India had set them a massive target.

India had earlier scored 329 in their first innings and declared their second innings at 352/7, putting England under enormous pressure with a target of 521.

The teams will now travel to Hampshire for the fourth Test, scheduled to begin on August 30. With India trailing 1-2, the victory at Trent Bridge has added fresh interest to the series and given the visitors an opportunity to level the contest in the next match.
