Providing uninterrupted power and water supply is priority: Raghubar

Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das reviewed the functioning of various departments including power, REO and drinking water and sanitation department. During the meeting, he said that providing uninterrupted power and water supply was a priority for the state government and said that power consumption has increased in the state as 30 lakh new connections have been given therefore there was a need to increase expenditure on infrastructure development.

He said that for setting up of distribution lines with the cooperation of the power department a Nodal officer will be appointed who will act as a coordinator between the two departments which will also speed up the work related to forest clearance. He said that what should be started within 10 days on the projects on which approval has been received as the more speed is added to construction of infrastructure related project the more it will make life easier for the people he pointed out that in the last four and a half years a large number of new distribution lines have been laid due to which there has been improvement in the condition of electricity supply.

He said that after the starting of the new line people who are waiting for power will get uninterrupted supply of electricity. In the meeting, it was informed that currently, work was on 15 projects out of which 5 projects have received forest clearance and work would commence soon. The Chief Minister also directed to take efforts in order to provide a solution to the water crisis for the people and pointed there was a water crisis in Santhal and Kolhan areas, therefore, the department should accord focus to these areas and give priority to water supply in primitive tribes villages and those resided by SC ST people.
