Management Highlights Operational Priorities

T V Narendran, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Steel, said the company achieved strong growth in deliveries and earnings despite uncertainty in the global economic environment and increased raw material costs. He highlighted India's contribution to overall performance and the progress made in capacity expansion and downstream projects.

He also noted that the company is focusing on increasing sales volumes, improving product value and strengthening its presence in emerging markets. The NINL expansion project has moved into the execution stage, while construction work on the galvanising line and Tinplate expansion is progressing.

Koushik Chatterjee, Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer, said higher production and deliveries in India, along with improved operations in the Netherlands, helped the company manage increased input costs.

He highlighted that consolidated EBITDA remained above Rs 13,000 per tonne during the quarter. India's EBITDA per tonne stood at Rs 17,790, reflecting the strength of its domestic operations.

In the Netherlands, EBITDA improved from €4 million in the first quarter to €72 million in the second quarter. However, the UK business continued to face pressure from weak demand and higher inventory levels.

Chatterjee added that the company remains focused on cost reduction, operational efficiency and better working capital management to strengthen cash flows. The UK electric arc furnace (EAF) project is also progressing, with construction activities gaining momentum.
