Shram Laabh: Empowering Contract Workers Through Digital Access

Jamshedpur :As part of its continued journey from Compliance to Care, Tata Steel has developed Shram Laabh, a digital platform that provides contract workers with seamless access to employment-related information, welfare services, and support mechanisms through a single interface using their unique Safety Pass Number. The application has been developed by the Contractor Cell, Tata Steel Jamshedpur, under the leadership of Yaswant Kumar Pandey, Chief HRBP - Steel, TSJ, TSG & HMC, with the objective of creating a more informed, empowered, and digitally connected contract workforce.

Available in Hindi and English, the platform enables workers to access wage slips, minimum wage information, EPF/ESIC details, statutory rights and benefits, welfare schemes, safety resources, grievance redressal mechanisms, social security schemes, information regarding Social Accountability and support services such as emotional counselling through Your Dost. Integrated with Haqdarshak, it also helps workers connect with eligible government welfare schemes, thereby enhancing transparency, awareness, accessibility, and worker engagement.

The name "Shram Laabh" was selected through a poll among contract workers, reflecting the platform's focus on delivering meaningful benefits to the workforce.

The application was officially launched by T. V. Narendran, CEO & MD, Tata Steel, on 1 October 2026. To formally introduce the platform to contract workers, Tata Steel subsequently organized "Shram Shakti: Digital Pehel", a dedicated communication and engagement event held in the presence of Arvind Kumar, Deputy Labour Commissioner, and Chaitanya Bhanu, VP Operations, TSJ. The event featured live demonstrations, awareness sessions, and interactive engagement activities, enabling workers to better understand and utilize the platform's services.

Shram Laabh represents another significant milestone in Tata Steel's commitment to responsible employment practices and holistic contract worker welfare, leveraging digital technology to make information, benefits, and support more accessible to those who need them most.
