Hemant Soren’s Raksha Bandhan Message Focuses on Women’s Rights and Empowerment

On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren extended his greetings to the people of the state, while using the festival’s message of brother-sister bonding to highlight the larger issue of women’s empowerment.

In a message shared on X, Soren said the women of Jharkhand have played an important role not only in holding their families together through difficult times but also in the state’s development and the progress of the country.

The Chief Minister stressed that educating and empowering a woman benefits more than just the individual. According to him, when a woman gets opportunities to study, progress and become financially independent, the positive impact extends to her family and the wider society.

Soren also highlighted several state government initiatives aimed at improving the social and economic well-being of women and girls. These include the Maiya Samman Yojana, Palash, the Savitribai Phule Kishori Samridhi Yojana and the Phulo Jhano Ashirwad Abhiyan.

He said the government’s focus is to create better opportunities for mothers and sisters to pursue their aspirations, become self-reliant and move forward in life with dignity and confidence.

Going beyond the traditional symbolism of Raksha Bandhan, Soren said the occasion should also serve as a reminder of society’s responsibility towards women. He outlined a broader commitment centred on girls’ education, the progress of young women and the empowerment of mothers.

The Chief Minister said a family, society and the state can become stronger only when women are given equal opportunities and the freedom to build a secure and dignified future.

Soren concluded his message by extending heartfelt greetings and best wishes to the people of Jharkhand on Raksha Bandhan and conveying his traditional greeting of ‘Johar’.
