CID Detains Another Suspect in Jharkhand JPSC Exam Scam Probe; Arrest Count Rises

Ranchi: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has detained another suspect as its investigation into the alleged merit scam and examination irregularities in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) recruitment process gathers pace.

Sources said the CID on Wednesday took a man identified as Dharmendra into custody. He had reportedly worked for several years at the residential office of former Chief Secretary L. Kiyangte, who has already been questioned multiple times in connection with the case.

The latest detention comes a day after the CID arrested three alleged middlemen -- Umesh Kumar, Budheshwar Bhagat and Ramesh Kumar -- during the ongoing probe.

According to sources, the accused are suspected of colluding with the examination-conducting agency TDPL to manipulate the recruitment process through an alleged "setting" network that influenced examination outcomes.

With the latest action, the number of people arrested or detained in connection with the case has reportedly risen to 15. However, officials have not yet issued an official confirmation regarding the latest figure.

The CID has intensified its investigation into the alleged irregularities, examining the role of intermediaries and others suspected of being part of an organised network that allegedly compromised the integrity of the JPSC recruitment process.
