Maharashtra TET Paper Leak: Alleged Mastermind Bijendra Gupta Arrested in Bihar

Patna: In a major development in the Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) paper leak case, police have arrested the alleged mastermind of the racket, Bijendra Gupta, from Bihar after months on the run.

Another accused, Indrajeet Singh, alias Piku, was also arrested during the operation. Both had been absconding for a long time before being tracked down by a special team of the Bhiwandi Police based on specific intelligence inputs.

Police said Bijendra Gupta had managed to evade arrest despite repeated raids and search operations by investigating agencies. His arrest is being seen as a major breakthrough in the probe into the alleged examination scam.

Following his arrest, Gupta was flown from Bihar to Pune under tight security and is being taken to Bhiwandi, where police are expected to produce him before a court and seek his custody for further interrogation.

Investigators believe Gupta played a central role in the alleged paper leak syndicate. His questioning is expected to reveal key details about how the operation was planned and executed, the identities of other members of the network, the methods used to manipulate the examination process, and the overall reach of the racket.

Police are also probing the financial trail linked to the alleged scam, including the movement of funds, sources of financing and the channels through which the network operated. Officials believe following the money trail could help uncover the wider conspiracy and identify additional beneficiaries.

According to investigators, Gupta's name has surfaced in several other high-profile examination paper leak cases in the past. Police also said that multiple accused, including Gupta's wife, had already been arrested earlier in connection with the Maharashtra TET paper leak case, while Gupta had remained absconding until his arrest in Bihar.

With the alleged kingpin now in custody, investigators expect the next phase of the probe to uncover fresh leads and expose the full extent of the examination fraud network.
