Commercial LPG Prices Slashed by Up to Rs 183.50 Across Major Cities

New Delhi: State-owned oil marketing companies (OMCs) have reduced the prices of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders by as much as Rs 183.50 in several major cities, offering relief to restaurants, hotels, eateries, and other businesses that rely on LPG for daily operations.

The revised rates came into effect on July 1.

According to the latest price revision, the commercial LPG cylinder price has been reduced by Rs 183.50 each in Delhi and Lucknow, Rs 181.50 in Chandigarh, Rs 174 in Kolkata, and Rs 173 in Patna.

Following the cut, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi now stands at Rs 2,930, down from Rs 3,113. In Chandigarh, the cylinder will cost Rs 2,954.50, while consumers in Patna will pay Rs 3,227. In Kolkata, the price has been lowered to Rs 3,081.50 from the previous Rs 3,255.50.

The reduction comes after commercial LPG prices had risen several times in recent months due to higher global energy costs driven by tensions in West Asia.

There has been no change in the price of the 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder.

Earlier this month, the government eased supply restrictions on LPG for commercial and industrial users after fuel availability improved. It restored 50 per cent of supplies to customers whose allocations had previously been suspended to ensure adequate availability for domestic consumers.

During the conflict in West Asia, the government invoked provisions under the Essential Commodities Act to direct that C3-C4 hydrocarbon streams be used exclusively for LPG production instead of petrochemical and other downstream industries, ensuring sufficient domestic LPG supplies.

The government has also instructed oil marketing companies to continue maintaining detailed records of commercial and industrial LPG consumers to improve supply planning and distribution.
