Ranchi — The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has accused its INDIA bloc allies of “political deceit,” alleging that confusion and manipulation over seat-sharing arrangements for the Bihar Assembly elections forced the party to step out of the alliance.
As the Bihar polls approach, tensions within the Mahagathbandhan have come to light. A day after announcing plans to contest six seats independently, the JMM formally declared its withdrawal from the alliance.
Jharkhand Minister and senior JMM leader Sudivya Kumar, while making the announcement in Giridih, blamed the Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) for “political cunning” that, he said, undermined the JMM’s rightful claim and violated coalition ethics.
JMM spokesperson Manoj Kumar Pandey told IANS, “We were left in a state of confusion despite our sincere efforts to remain part of the alliance. Unfortunately, political deceit and breach of trust were used against us, which may weaken the INDIA bloc’s unity.”
Pandey further said, “We have always supported our allies, even ensuring their leaders became ministers. If such betrayal happens after all our contributions, it is truly unjust.”
Meanwhile, Congress leader Rakesh Sinha said that JMM indeed deserved seats in Bihar but insisted Congress should not be blamed. “The Congress has always sacrificed for the unity of the alliance. This is a collective fight to safeguard democracy and the Constitution,” he said.
