Ranchi: The High Court heard a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking a probe into the ?28 crore MNREGA scam in Chaibasa district. During Friday's hearing, the state government informed the court that the documents requested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) will be provided within two weeks.
The court had previously directed the ED to submit an updated status report, which the agency complied with by presenting the required information.
The next hearing in the case is scheduled for January 21. The PIL was filed by Matloob Imam, and the bench of the Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court is hearing the case. The alleged scam occurred between 2008 and 2011.
The Chaibasa police have registered 14 FIRs related to the case, which has also been investigated by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). In 13 of the cases, the ACB has already filed charge sheets.
