Tribal members of Andaman and Nicobar Islands meet Hemant Soren

Ranchi: A delegation of Ranchi Association, Port Blair along with tribal members of Andaman and Nicobar Islands held a fruitful meeting with the Chief Minister of Jharkhand Hemant Soren on Friday morning here at Circuit House, South Point, Port Blair.

The Chief Minister expressed happiness over meeting the members of the Ranchi Association and assured that their demands would be sincerely looked upon. Hemant Soren apprised them about the welfare schemes undertaken by the state govt for upliftment of migrated labourers.

He informed that Chief Minister Migrated Labour Fund has been formed for the welfare of the labourers. He also apprised them that there is provision for the labourers working in other countries. 

The Chief Minister alos informed them the state govt has started safe and responsible migrated initiative under which registration of migrated labourers are done. The delegation comprised of President Mr. Febiyanus Toppo, Vice-President Mr. Suman Lakra, General Secretary Adv. Prakash Minj, Secretary Mr. Sebastian Tirkey, Cashier Mr. Phool Kumar, Joint secretaries Mr. Sunil Minj and Mr. Anil Toppo

They discussed various developmental aspects for the upliftment of Chota Nagpuri Adivasis (Ranchi Community) peoples living in Andaman & Nicobar Islands with the Chief Minister and highlighted measures for the welfare and advancement of the Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes in the Islands. In addition, issues pertaining to social, economic, political and educational development of Chota Nagpuri Adivasis, transit accommodation for tribals at mainland, increased air-fares etc. were discussed in the meeting.

They also highlighted the CM about the cultural bondings and similarities shared between Andaman & Nicobar Islands and the state of Jharkhand.
