Tribal outfits Ranchi bandh gets mixed response

Ranchi: City roads initially wore a deserted look during the day-long ‘Ranchi Bandh’ which was called by various tribal organizations to protest against the burning of the Sarna flag.

Since it was Saturday most of the schools remained closed and the majority of business establishments remained closed till the afternoon and even vehicles also remained off-road.

Supporters of tribal organizations were noticed on the road to enforce the bandh and people were noticed responding to their diktat properly without any protest.

All the roads leading to Birsa Chowk remained closed as the tribals had burnt tires around and restricted entry.

A police official said as many as 40 magistrates and 800 policemen were deployed at various places to prevent any untoward incident. However, as the day progressed shops and business establishments opened in all the areas of the capital.
