Jharkhand is a state full of immense possibilities: Governor

Ranchi: Governor CP Radhakrishnan said that the state of Jharkhand is a state with immense possibilities. Addressing the concluding ceremony of the Sansad Khel Mahotsav at the Khelgaon here he said that there is immense sporting talent inherent in this state, which needs to be encouraged. He said that youth must move forward with commitment, they must excel, they must resolve that they can achieve their goals.

He said that the state of Jharkhand is the land of heroes, where Bhagwan Birsa Munda and other great freedom fighters were born. Bhagwan Birsa Munda was born in 1875 AD and he was martyred in 1900 AD at the young age of 25 while fighting for the country, but his place will always remain in the hearts of the people. He said that today is his second program after taking oath the first program took place at the birthplace of Bhagwan Birsa Munda.

He said that this holy land has given many sportspersons who have brought laurels to the nation at the international level with their talent. This state is the land of great player Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda. He was the captain of the hockey team that won the gold medal for India in the 1928 Olympics. Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the former captain of the Indian cricket team, has earned a huge name in the world of cricket and impressed everyone with his game.

Referring to sportspersons like Nikki Pradhan, Salima Tete, Aruna Mishra, Deepika, Rupa Rani Tirkey, Lovely Choubey, Chandan Kumar Singh and others, he said that there is a lot of sporting talent in the rural areas of the state, which needs to be brought forward. 

He said that the state of Jharkhand can be called ‘Land of Archery’ and ‘Land of Hockey’. Congratulating Lok Sabha MP Sanjay Seth for organizing this three-day MP Sports Festival, the Governor said that it is a commendable effort in the direction of promoting sports among the youth in rural areas and providing a new opportunity. 

Congratulating the participants of the MP Sports Festival, he wished them a bright future. He expressed happiness over the participation of a large number of players from a rural background in this MP Sports Festival and expressed confidence that such sports events would bring out many hidden talents and bring laurels to the nation by excelling in national and international competitions. The Governor said that the Sansad Khel Mahotsav can play an important role in identifying and grooming sports talents.

He said that such initiatives have worked to create a better environment for sports. It should be organized in other areas also. He said that this mega sports complex has many facilities of international standard. These facilities should be fully utilized for grooming young talents. He called training absolutely necessary to enhance the talent inherent in young players. On this occasion, the Governor gave away prizes to the players who excelled in the competition.

On the occasion Lok Sabha MP Sanjay Seth while giving a welcome speech said that the whole country wants to excel in Olympic, Asian, Commonwealth and other international sports competitions and come up in the medal table and earn more and more medals and for this, there is a need to work in villages.

He said that Jharkhand is rich in the field of sports. In this direction, efforts have been made by MPs by organizing MP Sports Festival on the call of the Prime Minister. He said that around 5000 players participated in this three-day competition. He thanked the Governor for coming to the program to encourage the players.
