Deoghar Ropeway Incident: CM says action will be taken against guilty, in 46 hours 46 people rescued

Deoghar: The Rescue Operation following the Ropeway Incident on the Trikut Hills of the Deoghar district finally came to an end on Tuesday afternoon. During the operation which lasted for 46 hours the jawans of the army, airforce and ITBP managed to save the lives of 46 people while three people including two women lost their lives, unfortunately.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren on his part has said that serious note of the matter has been taken and a high-level probe will be conducted after which strict action will be taken against the culprits. He also assured that the state government will also take initiative over how the people who have lost their lives or those who have suffered injuries can be helped.

In Pathna of Sahibganj the Chief Minister said that the operation has concluded in Trikut Hills. Unfortunately in the incident, some lives were lost on the other hand he expressed his gratitude towards the jawans of the Airforce, Army, NDRF and ITBP who put their lives on sake for the safety of the people. The Chief Minister also said that a high-level probe will be conducted in the matter and action will be taken against the guilty. He said that the government will soon make a decision as to how the kin of the deceased and people who have sustained injuries can be helped.

The Ropeway incident happened around 4 PM on Sunday after which the initial rescue was started by the local people with the help of the administration. Later the team of NDRF joined. Following the initiative of the state government, the central government sent Air Force and other forces to help in the rescue operations. On April 11 two helicopters along with Garud Commandos started the rescue operations. On Monday the jawans managed to rescue 34 people while one person hailing from Dumka fell while being airlifted and dies.

On Tuesday the operation lasted around 2 PM in which 12 other people who were stuck in the trolleys mid-air were rescued however a woman fell from the ropes and lost her life. The woman hailed from the Deoghar district.

Overall in these three days, 46 people were rescued while three people including two women lost their lives. DC Deoghar Manjunath Bhajantri expressed his gratitude towards the jawans of the army and the Air Force after the successful
conclusion of the operation. He said that on Tuesday 13 people who were left were rescued while a woman had died.
