Farmers of Palamu and Garwah to be directly benefited by construction of Mandal Dam: Raghubar

Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das today said that whatever promises Prime Minister Narendra Modi had made to the people of Jharkhand have been completed with commitment and said that the January 5 visit of the Prime Minister will be a milestone
for the development of Jharkhand. 

Addressing a press conference at the project building here he said Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for construction of Mandal Dam which would be built at a cost of Rs 2500 crore. He said that the work of the dam was stopped since 1972 and with the coordination of the state and the centre the foundation for this project would be laid which will directly benefit the farmers of Garhwa and Palamu districts. 

Mr Das said that Prime Minister will also a foundation stone for a project worth Rs 1138 crore through which water from the Soan river would be brought for irrigation and drinking water needs for these two districts. He said that under the scheme the pipeline would be laid below the ground for which there would be also no need to acquire the land.

He said that once completed the project will not only solve water problems but will also provide water for irrigation which will ultimately make the farmers economically strong. He said that during his stint as Chief Minister of Gujarat Mr Modi had brought the water from Sabarmati river and provided facilities for drinking and irrigation needs of his area and on the similar model through Soan river water will be brought for the benefit of the people of Garhwa and Palamu.

Mr Das said that for development of Jharkhand it is important to have a stable and strong government and said that the state  government is trying its best to fulfil the hopes and aspirations of the people for which they had voted for a stable government in the state. He said that in the four years all schemes of the centre have been dedicated implemented in the state. He said that centre has also extended full support in all the development works in the state.

The Chief Minister said that the visit of Prime Minister on January 5 is a matter of immense pride and joy for the people of Jharkhand especially those of Palamu and Garhwa. He said that Mr Modi has always thought for the well being of the state and has fulfilled his promise of Sampoorn Vikas. Mr Das said that it is a priority for the state government that all development schemes reach the villages poor and farmers.
