Raghubar asks to encourage solar farming in state

Ranchi (By our correspondent): Chief Minister Raghubar Das directed to make sure that power reaches to all the homes by December 28 and suggested that advance planning should be made keeping in mind the power requirements of the state for the next 20 years.

Reviewing the progress of electrification work on in the state he said that there was a need to adopt farsightedness in any work. He said that an assessment needed to made on requirement of power after the process of electrification is complete and each and every home has been provided power connection and asked to form task forces to look into illegal connections and asked to take strict action against those who indulge in power theft and suggested that ex-servicemen can be employed for collection of electricity bill.

Mr Das said that regular review should be done on the progress of construction of grid and substations and said that at any cost the construction of agriculture feeder should be completed by April end said that efforts should be also made to prevent the power loss which is caused due to using electricity in daytime. The Chief Minister said that power corporations of the state government needed to run in a professional manner and said that it should be the target that all the companies which are involved in power generation should not only become self-dependent but turn profit making.

He said that at Kanke Chandil Dam and other big canals solar plates should be installed and solar farming should be encouraged. He said that apart from that in barren land solar farming should be done and the farmers should also be encouraged to do solar farming as the power generated would be purchased by JBVNL and distributed.

Those present included Chief Secretary Sudhir Tripathi, Additional Chief Secretary Finance Sukhdeo Singh, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Sunil Barnwal and other officials.
