Barnwal directs officials of Water Resources Dept to immediately solve water crisis in Chaitra Colliery

Ranchi (By our correspondent): Principal Secretary to Jharkhand Chief Minister Sunil Barnwal asked the officials of the drinking water and sanitation department to seriously look into the issue of solving the water crisis plaguing the residents of Chitra Colliery of Deoghar district. Reviewing the progress in addressal of complaints registered at the Jansamwad Kendra here he said that the officials needed to work with sensitivity in order to ensure that people get the benefit of the welfare schemes and their complaints are also solved adequately.

During the review the issue of the water crisis in Chitra colliery located in Sarath block of Deoghar district prominently figured. It was informed that the scheme of laying the pipeline for supply of water was started in 2012 but was abandoned in 2014 and in the peak summer season water from tankers is stored in wells which are later supplied through pipelines for solving the
drinking needs of the people. 

Over a complaint from Chatra it was pointed out that one home guard Indradev Tiwari died during work in August 2015 but till date, the wife of the deceased has not been given the compensation. Over this, the officials said that the kin was to be paid Rs 2 lakh as compensation but despite demands of allocation the DFO made no requests. Terming the incident as a case of gross negligence Mr. Barnwal asked to identify all the DFOs who had been posted till July 2018 and commence departmental action against them. He directed to make sure that the dependent gets the compensation by next Tuesday.

In a complaint from Ramgarh, it was pointed out that compensation of the various landowners who had given their land for the four laning of the Patratu Dam-Ramgarh road since 2012 was pending. Over this, the additional collector said that while payment has been made the money to remaining would be cleared in next 15 days on this Mr. Barnwal said that if the payment is not made before the next Siddhi Baat Programme than he should be ready to get suspended. Several other complaints were also reviewed by him.
