Procurement of paddy has officially commenced in the state: Rameshwar Oraon

Ranchi: Food and Civil Supplies Minister Dr Rameshwar Oraon on Tuesday said that from December 1 the procurement of paddy has officially commenced in Jharkhand.

He said that this year the state government is also providing a bonus of Rs 182 per quintal to the paddy cultivators. Dr Oraon said that the state government has fixed the MSP of paddy at Rs 1,868 per quintal and when the bonus sum of Rs 182 will be added to it the farmers will get Rs 2,050 for per quintal of paddy.

The minister said that since this year the monsoon season was a good one therefore it is expected that paddy procurement will be more as compared to the previous year. On the other hand, Agriculture Minister Badal said that necessary funds have been provided to all the districts for paddy procurement.

Badal said that within three days of selling their harvest the farmers will get 50 percent payment while the remaining will be transferred into their bank accounts. He said that this year record purchase of paddy is expected in

Jharkhand as the government has taken all the necessary steps to reduce the role of middlemen.
In Ranchi district alone 23 paddy procurement centers have been set up and at these centers officials of the cooperative department have also been posted.
