Voluntary blood donation campaign in state from October 1-15

Ranchi: The state AIDS control committee has set a target to make Jharkhand as one of the leading states in the area of blood collection as part of which a fortnight campaign would be organized for voluntary blood donation from October 1-15.

Addressing a press conference at the Suchana Bhawan director of the project Rajeev Ranjan said that on the directions of Chief Secretary Sukhdeo Singh and Principal Secretary Health Nitin Madan Kulkarni elaborate arrangements have been made. He said that all the districts and blood banks have been informed regarding this blood donation campaign during which a target has been set to collect 50,000 units of blood.

He said that for the period March 22 to September 23 a total of 97,612 units of blood was collected and 1,05,052 units of blood was distributed. He said that under the AIDS control committee 31 blood banks and another 28 blood banks are functioning.

The project director said that the committee was also encouraging the people who have won against Coronavirus to come forward for plasma donation and so far 210 units of plasma have been distributed out of which 200 units have been distributed. He said that any person who has been cured off Coronavirus can donate plasma after 28 days. He said that the committee has also set up a e-bloodbank portal from where anyone can collect information regarding the availability of the blood. The portal is updated every 24 hours, he informed.
