Rural Development Min expresses anguish over slow pace of PMAY

Ranchi (By our correspondent): Rural Development Minister Neelkanth Singh Munda has expressed his anger over the slow pace of construction of homes in Palamu district under Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana as against a target of 51,000 homes only 2300 has been built in the city.

In a meeting with the officials and the engineers at the circuit house here he said that PMAY was the key scheme of Prime
Minister Narendra Modi which will help to provide homes to the poor and said that if the homes are not constructed on time than it would meet the fate of Indira Aawas Yojana, therefore, the officials should do prompt work and ensure promptness in the execution of the schemes. Later he also reviewed the progress of road construction under PMGSY and state-funded schemes during which he said
that under PMGSY a total of 5400 kilometers of roads has to be built in the state in which all the engineers will have to play a vital role.

He directed the engineers to solve the problems coming in the way and prepare a list of contractors who are not working properly.
The minister said that under the state-funded schemes a total of 3600 kilometers of roads has to be built in the state.
