Transport Minister Champai Soren launches Jharkhand Driver and Transport Safety Campaign

Ranchi: Transport Minister Champai Soren said that the Transport depatment is playing an important role in this global crisis caused by Covid-19 as in the running of economy  and supply chain throughout the country, the transporting medium is proving to be decisive

He said that the work of transporting goods to aid people in lockdown is being done by the Transport Department also, many awareness work is being done by the department for the safety of the people associated with the work of transport and for this, the 'Jharkhand Driver and Transport Safety Campaign' has being launched.

On this occasion, he released the "Driver Safety Guide for the Prevention of Corona Virus (COVID-19)" and also distributed the Corona Safety Tool Kit among drivers and assistants at project building.

The Minister said that life has been severely affected due to Covid-19. He said that a campaign is being run by the Jharkhand State Transport Department to provide information to the vehicle owners, drivers and general public about the prevention from Covid-19.

The guide issued by the department tells about the importance of maintaining social distance, washing hands regularly, using masks and sanitizing the vehicle. He said that the guidelines issued by the Central Government are being followed.

Secretary of the transport department K Ravi Kumar said that the situation has not been the same as before due to Covid-19. The owner, driver and assistant of the vehicle should understand this and work according to the guide issued by the department. He said that the guide has been made by the Transport Department to make people aware along with this, people are also being made aware through a video.

The video will also be shown on LEDs vans in the state and also large publicity materials will be disseminated on various social media platforms so that people can be made aware. Until the vaccine is developed for Covid-19, everyone have to be careful and take preventive measures he said adding that guides and tool kits will also be distributed by the employees of Road Safety, to spread awareness among the people.

During the function tool kits were distributed among the drivers and assistants by the Minister which contained driver safety guide, sanitizer, mask and soap to protect against the Corona Virus. Rajiv Lochan Bakshi, Director, Information Public Relations Department , Transport Department officials, employees and drivers were also present on the occasion.
