Chandigarh — Marcus Stoinis and Cooper Connolly have joined the Punjab Kings camp in Mohali, giving the team a timely boost ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League 2026 season.

Their arrival adds depth and balance to the Punjab lineup, combining Stoinis’ experience with Connolly’s emerging talent. The team, which finished runners-up last season, has been training intensively in recent weeks and is now entering the final stage of preparations.
Led by Shreyas Iyer, Punjab Kings will aim to go one step further this time after their second-place finish in 2025. The side is scheduled to play 14 league matches and will begin their campaign against the Gujarat Titans on April 31.
Speaking at the team’s jersey unveiling, Iyer expressed confidence and ambition. He said expectations are high but enjoyable, stressing that the focus remains on winning every game and ultimately lifting the trophy. ?
Earlier, head coach Ricky Ponting set the tone during the first practice session, encouraging players to embrace mistakes while staying committed to the process. He emphasised preparation, clarity in roles, and belief in the team’s approach as key elements heading into the tournament.
The former Australian captain also reminded the squad that the immediate focus should remain on preparation rather than results, urging players to reconnect with the qualities that helped them succeed as a unit.
