Polo: Jaipur mount late surge to reach Sirmour Cup final

Jaipur Polo Team staged a dramatic late rally to defeat Vimal Arion Achievers 10–9 in the Raffles Sirmour Cup, overturning a two-goal deficit in the final moments to secure a place in the title clash.

Vimal Arion Achievers began strongly, applying sustained pressure early in the match. Jaipur trailed 1–2 after the opening chukker but regrouped effectively in the second period. Improved coordination and calm execution helped Jaipur turn the tables, taking a narrow 3–2 lead by halftime as their attacking moves began to gain rhythm.

Jaipur dominated the third chukker with swift ball circulation, well-structured build-up play, and accurate finishing, extending their lead to 7–4. Lance Watson led the offensive charge with crucial strikes, while Manuel Fernandez Llorente played a key supporting role in attack.

The momentum shifted in the fourth and fifth chukkers as Vimal Arion Achievers mounted a strong comeback. Making the most of their chances, they reduced the deficit and surged ahead 9–7 by the end of the fifth chukker, setting up a gripping final period.

The sixth chukker saw Jaipur raise their intensity, strengthen their defensive structure, and press relentlessly in attack. Showing remarkable composure under pressure, the team netted three decisive goals while keeping their opponents scoreless, completing an impressive comeback to seal the 10–9 win and confirm their place in the final.

Watson finished as Jaipur’s top scorer with five goals, while Llorente added four in an influential performance. HH Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh also contributed with a goal, as Jaipur blended experience with attacking flair to secure a memorable victory.

Earlier in the week, Jaipur Polo Team concluded a successful campaign in the Kognivera Cup, registering a composed 5–2 win over V Polo in the final to claim their seventh title of the season.
