
Dubai — India celebrated a proud achievement at the Asian Youth Para Games 2025 as swimmer Abdul Quadir Indori secured two gold medals, delivering an exceptional performance in the 50m Butterfly and 50m Backstroke events.
Sharing the news on X, the Paralympic Committee of India wrote: “Golden glory for India! A remarkable achievement that reflects his dedication, discipline, and the rising strength of India’s young para-athletes. Congratulations, Abdul!”
The Opening Ceremony of the Asian Youth Para Games 2025 took place on Wednesday in Dubai, showcasing vibrant cultural performances and bringing together promising para-athletes from across Asia.
According to the Asian Paralympic Committee (APC), Iran, the table-toppers at the 2021 Bahrain edition with 51 gold medals, has fielded the largest contingent with 195 athletes, highlighting its continued investment in youth and Para sport excellence.
They are followed by Uzbekistan (124), Thailand (122), and India (122), forming the next largest delegations at the Games. Host nation UAE has sent 55 athletes, reflecting the country’s growing commitment to Para sport development and inclusion through the efforts of the APC and the Dubai Club for People of Determination.
Dubai is hosting the Games for the second time since 2017, strengthening its status as a key Asian centre for Para sports. Defending champions Iran have again arrived with the biggest team and are aiming to retain their overall title.
The competition will also highlight some of Asia’s standout Para athletes, including Zahra Rahimi of Iran, silver medallist in women’s -52kg Para Taekwondo at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, and Chen Po-Yen of Chinese Taipei, ITTF World No.1 and Paris 2024 silver medallist in Class 11 table tennis.
