Bengaluru (IANS) — India marched into the semi-finals of the Cricket for the Blind 2025 Women’s T20 World Cup with a dominant ten-wicket victory over the USA, securing their fourth straight win of the tournament.
Playing their sixth match, India showed complete command in a contest that held special significance for the USA Women’s Blind Cricket Team, who made their World Cup debut this year. The American side was formed only within the last year through a pioneering developmental programme in collaboration with Indian organisations that scouted, trained, and supported visually impaired cricketers across the US.
Sent in to bat first, the USA battled hard but were restricted to 60/8 in 20 overs. Tatyana (17 off 41, B2) and Caroline (12 off 26, B2) showed grit, but India’s disciplined attack never let the pressure ease. Simranjeet Kour (B2), Sunita Srathe (B2), Simu Das (B1), and Ganga Kadam (B3) claimed a wicket each, while sharp fielding led to multiple run-outs across categories.
In reply, India produced a blistering batting performance. Chasing 61, they finished the match in just 3.3 overs without losing a wicket. Player of the Match Simranjeet Kour hammered an unbeaten 31 off 12 balls (B2), while Kavya N.R (B3) added a rapid 21* from 12 deliveries to complete the emphatic win.
India will next face arch-rivals Pakistan on Sunday in Colombo, a match expected to be one of the most anticipated clashes of the tournament.
