Indian Boxers Depart for Bahrain to Compete in Asian Youth Games 2025

New Delhi — The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) has sent a 23-member Indian contingent to Manama, Bahrain, to participate in the 3rd Asian Youth Games 2025, scheduled from October 23 to 30. The team will compete across 14 weight divisions — seven each for boys and girls in the Under-17 category.

The boxing events will be held at Exhibition World Bahrain Hall 9, featuring three-round bouts in a single-elimination format. Medal ceremonies are slated for October 30, followed by the Closing Ceremony on October 31.

The young pugilists recently concluded an intensive training camp at NS NIS Patiala, held from September 23 to October 20, which focused on improving their technical, tactical, and physical conditioning. The camp was conducted under the supervision of Head Coaches Vinod Kumar (Boys U-17) and Jitender Raj Singh (Girls U-17), supported by a team of six coaches, two physiotherapists, and a doctor.

Team selection was based on performances at the 6th U-17 Junior Boys and Girls National Boxing Championships 2025. Gold medallists earned direct selection, while silver medallists were named as reserves.

The squad includes several standout performers from the Asian U-17 Championships (July 2025), where India secured 43 medals and finished second overall, marking another milestone in the nation’s ascent in youth boxing.

“Our young boxers have shown remarkable growth and have proven their ability to compete with the best in Asia. Participating in the Asian Youth Games will give them invaluable experience as they move toward becoming future medal winners. They’ve trained rigorously, and we are confident they will put up a strong show in Bahrain,” said Ajay Singh, President, Boxing Federation of India.

Notable members of the team include Dhruv Kharb, Udham Singh Raghav, Khushi Chand, Ahaana Sharma, and Chandrika Bhoreshi Pujari — all gold medallists who have been instrumental in India’s recent success at the youth level.
