Hockey: Veteran Forward Navneet Kaur Completes 200 International Caps for Indian Women’s Team

Hangzhou — Hockey India has congratulated star forward Navneet Kaur on achieving the prestigious milestone of completing 200 international caps for the Indian women’s hockey team. She reached this landmark during India’s Super4s clash against Japan at the ongoing Women’s Asia Cup 2025 in Hangzhou on Saturday.

Currently, Navneet holds the position of the second-highest goal-scorer for India in the tournament, further underlining her form and consistency at the international level.

The 29-year-old made her senior debut for India in 2014, shortly after helping the Indian junior women’s team clinch a bronze medal at the 2013 Junior Women’s World Cup. Since then, she has been one of the most reliable and consistent performers in the national side. Over the past decade, she has represented India in all major global competitions and played a vital role in the team’s steady rise on the international stage.

Navneet was a part of the squad that scripted history at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where the Indian women’s team finished in fourth place, narrowly missing out on a medal but winning the hearts of millions of fans worldwide.

She also featured in the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, where India secured a bronze medal. At the Asian Games, she contributed significantly to India’s campaigns, winning silver in 2018 at Jakarta-Palembang and bronze in 2022 at Hangzhou.

Her contributions extend to the Women’s Asia Cup, where she was a member of the team that captured gold in 2017 in Kakamigahara and later bronze in 2022 in Muscat. Additionally, Navneet played a key role in India’s success at the Asian Champions Trophy, where the team won silver in 2018 at Donghae, followed by back-to-back gold medal victories in Ranchi (2023) and Rajgir (2024).

Reflecting on her milestone, Navneet Kaur said:

“It is a very special moment in my career. It has been an amazing ride ever since I made my debut in 2014. The last decade has been full of learning experiences. Each tournament has taught me something new, and I feel grateful to my family, teammates, coaches, and the fans for their support throughout. Wearing the India jersey is a privilege I cherish every single day, and milestones like these remind me of how grateful I am. I will continue to give my best and hope to inspire more young girls to take up hockey.”

Congratulating her, Hockey India President Dr. Dilip Tirkey said:

“Playing 200 matches for India is a mark of both excellence and endurance. Navneet has been an integral part of the Indian Women’s Team’s rise in recent years. She has scored crucial goals, shown great consistency, and been a role model for younger players coming into the team. We are extremely proud of her milestone and wish her many more successes in her career.”

Hockey India Secretary General Bhola Nath Singh also praised Navneet’s achievement, stating:

“Navneet Kaur’s journey is an inspiration for every young girl who dreams of playing hockey for India. Achieving 200 caps at the highest level requires tremendous hard work and commitment. Hockey India congratulates her on this remarkable achievement and looks forward to her continued contributions to the team’s success.”
