SG Pipers Cheetahs Edge Vedanta Leopards in Super Shootout to Retain World Padel League Title

Mumbai — SG Pipers Cheetahs defended their World Padel League crown in dramatic fashion, edging out debutants Vedanta Leopards by a single point in a super shootout that went down to sudden death.

With the teams tied 17–17 after three fiercely fought sets, the title clash came down to nerves. Under intense pressure, the Cheetahs kept their composure to seal a 10–9 victory in sudden death, securing back-to-back championships.

The contest began with the defending champions striking first blood. Teo Zapata and Fede Mourino powered the Cheetahs ahead with a 6–3 win over Ignacio Piotto and Javi Mora. But the Leopards roared back in the second set, as Tamara Icardo and Marta Ortega saved multiple set points before edging Sofia Araujo and Claudia Fernandez 7–5 in a pulsating battle.

With the championship hanging in the balance, the final set saw Jairo Bautista and Sanyo Gutierrez of the Leopards go head-to-head with Victor Ruiz and Maxi Sanchez. Entering the decider with a slender 11–10 lead, the Cheetahs were pushed to the limit as high-intensity rallies sent the set into a tiebreak. The Leopards held firm to claim it 7–6, forcing the super shootout.

What followed was a nerve-jangling finish as both sides traded points relentlessly. In the end, the Cheetahs edged it 10–9 in sudden death, writing themselves into league history with consecutive titles.

While the Cheetahs celebrated, the Leopards left a strong impression in their debut season. Fighting through the Eliminator and stunning the Khan Tigers in the Qualifier, they carried that momentum into the final and nearly toppled the champions. Their fearless performance, pushing the clash to the very brink, marked them as a team to watch in future seasons.
