New Delhi – KL Rahul, the only centurion for India in the Lord’s Test, took to social media to share his thoughts following India’s narrow 22-run defeat, which left the visitors trailing 1-2 in the five-match Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series. Reflecting on the emotionally charged match, Rahul wrote, “Some games are more than wins or losses. They test your spirit, your character, and the lessons make you stronger.”
On the final day of the Test, Rahul, along with vice-captain Rishabh Pant, faced the crucial opening spell. However, the tide turned quickly—Pant was bowled by Jofra Archer, and Rahul soon followed, trapped LBW by Ben Stokes. Their dismissals triggered a dramatic collapse in the Indian batting order. Despite determined efforts from Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Siraj, India ultimately fell short of the target.
Former India head coach Ravi Shastri weighed in on the loss, identifying key moments that shifted momentum in England’s favor. He pointed to Rishabh Pant’s first-innings run-out as a major blow. “Ben Stokes showed brilliant presence of mind just before lunch. If Pant had stayed, India might have taken a lead and been in the driver’s seat,” Shastri said on The ICC Review.
He also criticized Karun Nair’s dismissal in the second innings. “At 40/1, Nair’s decision to leave a straight delivery was a big lapse in concentration. That opened the door for England,” he added.
Following the defeat at Lord’s on Monday, the Indian men’s and women’s cricket teams had a special moment off the field when they met King Charles III at Clarence House in London on Tuesday. Players including Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, and Shubman Gill were seen interacting with the British monarch.
