Javelin thrower Neeraj wins Asiad gold

Reigning Asian champion Neeraj Chopra created a new national record while winning the men's javelin throw gold medal at the 18th Asian Games here on Monday.

Neeraj produced a stunning throw of 88.06 metres on his third attempt to clinch the gold and rewrite the national record.

His Indian teammate Shivpal Singh managed a best throw of 74.11 metres and finished eighth in the competition.
