PM Modi to Release 22nd Installment of PM-Kisan Today

New Delhi — Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 22nd installment of the government’s flagship farmer support scheme Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) on Friday, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced.

The Prime Minister will release the funds during his visit to Guwahati in Assam, transferring more than Rs 18,640 crore directly to the bank accounts of over 9.32 crore farmer families across the country through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.

Chouhan said the move reflects the government’s continued focus on supporting farmers and recognising the contribution of the country’s annadatas.

Since the scheme was launched in February 2019, the Centre has transferred more than Rs 4.09 lakh crore directly into farmers’ bank accounts. With the latest installment, the total amount disbursed under the programme will cross Rs 4.27 lakh crore.

The minister said the initiative, introduced under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, has played a significant role in strengthening the agriculture sector by providing direct income support to small and marginal farmers.

Under the scheme, eligible farmer families receive Rs 6,000 per year in three equal installments, which are credited directly to their bank accounts.

According to Chouhan, more than 2.15 crore women farmers will also benefit from the 22nd installment.

He noted that the financial support helps farmers meet agricultural expenses such as purchasing seeds, fertilisers, pesticides and other farming inputs, while also assisting with household needs like education and healthcare.

The minister added that the government is working to economically empower women farmers and improve the financial stability of rural households through the PM-Kisan programme.

He also pointed out that several independent studies suggest the scheme has strengthened the rural economy by reducing farmers’ reliance on loans and encouraging greater investment in agriculture.
