Chief Secretary directs to launch campaign for birth and death registration

Ranchi: Chief Secretary DK Tiwari has directed the departments concerned to conduct a statewide campaign for birth and death registration in the state in the month of April and asked the DCs to undertake the initiative on a war footing.

Speaking at the inter-department coordination meet he said that the campaign will run throughout the month of April as while framing development schemes knowledge of the correct population is important.

He said that 25 percent births in the state are still not registered while 60 percent death registration is not taking place. 

He asked the officials to make the people informed regarding the requirement of the birth certificate during the time of admission and said that in this campaign services of teachers, Anganwadi workers, ANM, panchayat Sevak, etc should be taken.

He instructed the officers to create awareness among the masses regarding the benefits of death and birth registration and pointed out that keeping in mind the need for the future even infants needed to be linked with Aadhar.
