Khunti: Police has arrested five accused who were involved in an incident of eve-teasing from Kala Mati under Khunti Police Station area of this district.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that six girls from Fundi village were returning after seeing a local fair when they were kidnapped by miscreants.
Two of them somehow managed to escape while four others were taken to Hadutami village where they were gang-raped inside a house. As the news spread Ranchi DIG and Khunti Police reached the village and inquired into the incident.
Later in the evening addressing a press conference Khunti SP Ashutosh Shekhar said that no gang rape took place but rather the girls were subjected to eve-teasing.
He said that police and CID have conducted the probe and also the girls were questioned. The SP said that the arrested had tried to forcibly make the girls sit on their bikes and one of the girls got injured while jumping from the bike
