Devotees throng at Baba Baidyanath Dham and Maa Chinmastika temple on Makar-Sankranti

Deoghar/Ramgarh: On the occasion of Makar-Sankranti the people made a bee line since early morning to offer Jala-abhishek at Baba Baidynath Dham located in Deoghar district of the state.

Since Makar-Sankranti is considered to be first festival of the year therefore large number of devotees throng at the temple to pay their obeisance to Lord Shiva. After the initial puja performed by Sardar Panda ‘Til’ is offered to Baba Baidynath which marks the beinging of the festival.

Later in the afternoon a ‘bhog’ of Khichidi’ was prepared. Following the instructions of Deoghar DC Nancy Sahai elaborate arrangements had been made inside the temple to ensure that the devotes do not have any problems.

Meanwhile, a report from Ramgarh said that hundreds of people took a dip on the confluence of Damodar and Bhairavi river on whose banks the temple of Maa Chinmastika is situated in Rajrappa. After having the bath the devotees offered prayers to the deity.

After the prayers the people consumed ‘Dahi-Chura and Tilkut’ at the banks of the river itself. Not only locals but people from neighbouring states also gathered at the temple and offered their obeisance.
