Cash and valuables worth Rs 17.02 crore seized so far in Jharkhand, 132 FIRs registered

Ranchi: Chief Electoral Officer Vinay Kumar Choubey said that since the declaration of polls in the state cash and valuables worth Rs 17.02 crore has been seized so far in the state.

Addressing a press conference here he said that among the items which have been seized included Rs 8.15 crore in cash and illegal liquor and ‘jawa mahua’ worth Rs 3.72 crore has been also seized.

Mr Choubey said that apart from those contraband items including opium worth Rs 65.68 lakh has been seized by the enforcement agencies along with gift items worth Rs 1.52 crore and other precious items worth Rs 2.96 crore have been also seized.

He said that after the model code of conduct came into effect post the declaration of Vidhan Sabha elections in the state on November 1 so far 132 FIRs for violation of model code of conduct have been registered.
