Khunti: Irate villagers beat three men in Jaltanda Suari village under Karra police station area of this district for killing a prohibited animal in which one of the men died.
The deceased has been identified as Kalantus Barla of Gopalpur village of Lapung police station area. Two others Philip Horro and Phagu Kachap who were beaten up by the villagers are being treated at RIMS Ranchi.
Post the incident senior police officials reached the village and are camping in the area. Police said that villagers had received information of prohibited animal was being killed at the bank of the local rivers after which a large number of the villagers gathered and reached the spot where they found three people killing a prohibited animal who were later thrashed seriously.
Upon receiving information a police team immediately reached on the spot and somehow rescued the three men from the clutches of the villagers and sent the injured to RIMS Ranchi for better treatment however in the course of the treatment one of the men died.
Police have taken many suspects into custody in this case and raids were on to nab other accused.
