
Ranchi: Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu has asked the MLAs to ensure the reach of the various welfare schemes which are being run by the state government among the people and said that there should be healthy competition among them to ensure that their respective area is most progressive and the schemes are being properly implemented.
Addressing the special session of the Jharkhand Assembly which was held at the New Vidhan Sabha she said that the MLAs also needed to remain friendly with each other and hold a discussion among themselves regarding the scheme which is being implemented in their area.
She pointed that during her recent tour of the Santhal Pargana she had interacted with the people and collected information regarding the implementation of the schemes and said that people play their active role to ensure the success of the schemes which have been framed by the government.
Quoting the preamble of the constitution which begins with ‘We the people’ she said that all the MLAs should remember that they have been elected to fulfill the aspirations of the people and to serve them as part of being the member of the house they have the right to make laws on the issues which are directed related to the people and their welfare.
She said that it was their core responsibility to keep an eye on the working of the executive and remain aware, alert and answerable towards the problems of the people. She said that people with high hopes and aspirations elect the representative of their area who is responsible to solve the problems and ensure the development of the region.
She said that the parliament and the assembly are considered responsible for the development of the nation and the state and the same should be in minds of the MLAs and members of the cabinet.
The governor said that in the era of social media the people keep an eye on the development schemes which are taking place in other states and what impact they are having and hope that the same is replicated here, therefore, the MLAs also needed to remain alert and should be aware of the schemes being implemented not only in their state but also elsewhere.
She said that the assembly should always remain alert over the needs of the people and the problems so that the policies can be framed accordingly. She suggested the MLAs to take the suggestion of the people and after understanding, their needs than only schemes should be framed and urged them to keep transparency in their work and also behave properly with the people. The governor also asked them to hold discussion with the people of their area over the various schemes.
