Special camps on September 8 and 15 for revision of Electoral rolls

Ranchi: As part of short revision programme for the upcoming Assembly elections in the state the election commission will be organising special camps on September 8 and 15 for revision of Electoral rolls.

Addressing a press conference here Chief Electoral Officer Vinay Kumar Choubey said in these camps applications related to the inclusion of name, changes in name and address details and removal of names will be undertaken. He said that district Electoral officer cum DCs have been directed to ensure the presence of BLOs on the polling booths.

He said that the divisional commissioners and DCs have been appointed observers for the short revision of Electoral rolls programme and they would be monitoring the programme and inform the office of the Chief Electoral Officer.

He said that following the directions of the Election Commission of India the programme for revision of electoral rolls has been started. He said that in the programme which will continue till September 17 all people who have turned 18 on January 1, 2019 and their names are not in the electoral rolls can register their names and also make corrections if any wrong information is given for which both offline and online facilities are available.

He said that those who want to opt for the offline mode they can get the form from BLO or sub-divisional office and submit the forms. As per the programme all objections which will be received till September 17 they would be solved till September 27. On October 4 the revised electoral rolls would be reviewed by the district Electoral officers and the final voter list will be published on October 12.

Mr Choubey said till September 6 29,464 applications related to the inclusion of names and making other corrections have been received and now these will be physically verified by the BLOs and for eligible citizens, the new epic cards will be issued by October end. He said that transfer and posting involved in the revision of Electoral rolls had been stopped till October 12 so that programme is not hit.
