Session in three medical colleges to commence this year

Ranchi: The academic session in three medical colleges of the state Palamu, Dumka and Hazaribagh on 100 seats will commence from 2019-20 itself.

On the special request of the state government, the supreme court has issued an order in this regard. It is due to the efforts of the state government that this year has turned out to be a golden year for medical education in the state.

Apart from 280 seats adding of these 300 seats has taken the total number of seats in the state has increased to 580. The central government this year has started the academic session on 50 seats in Deoghar AIIMS this year.

The medical colleges in Palamu Hazaribagh and Dumka were inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 17, 2019. For the establishment of these three medical colleges, the state government had sanctioned a sum of Rs 340.20 crore while the state government has allotted a sum of Rs 392.89 crore.

The centre and the state government have jointly spent Rs 733.09 crore on these three colleges.
