More than two lakh Kanwariyas offer Jala-abhishek at Deoghar, another 1.5 lakh at Basukinath Dham

Deoghar/Dumka: The last Somvari of the auspicious month of Shravan witnessed yet another humungous gathering of the kanwariyas at Baba Baidyanath Dham in Deoghar which is also known as Monkamna Ling and is among the 12 revered Jyotrilings dedicated to Lord Shiva in the country.

A report from Deoghar said that at 3.45 am the doors of the temple were opened for the kanwariyas. On the 27th day of the auspicious month of Shravan till 7 pm a total of 1.76 lakh devotees had offered their Jala-abhishek at the temple. Since a huge queue of kanwariyas was still waiting at the temple, therefore, it was expected to cross the 2 lakh mark.

Meanwhile, a report from Dumka said that more than 1.50 lakh kanwariyas offered their Jala-abhishek at Basukinath Dham located at Jarmundi block of this district. Officials of the temple management said that 1945 kanwariyas opted for Shighra darshanam. During the day the temple collected Rs 1.43 lakh as offerings and 148 grams of silver. During the day temple management sold 6 silver coins of 10 grams and five silver coins of 5 grams each.

In the state capital Ranchi also thousands of kanwariyas offered their Jala-abhishek at Pahadi Baba temple. Since Sunday all arrangements had been made so that devotees could offer their prayers at the temple without any problem. The doors of the temple were opened at 5 am for devotees but prior to that, a huge crowd had made its beeline to offer obeisance at the temple.

Since the weather was also favourable therefore a huge crowd of people including young old woman and youth had gathered at the temple since early morning.
