More than one lakh offers prayer at Deoghar and Dumka

Deoghar/Dumka: During the ongoing month long Shravani Mela more than one lakh kanwariyas turned up Deoghar and Basukinath to offer Jala-abhishek to Lord Shiva during the auspicious month of Shravan.

A report from Deoghar said the doors of the temple were opened at 3.40 am for the devotees and in the morning the line had reached till Barmasia Mode. Till 7 pm 1,18,636 kanwariyas had offered Jala-abhishek out of which 6016 had opted for Shighra darshanam. Officials in Deoghar said that till the doors of the temple is closed for night the number is expected to cross 1.30 lakh mark.

On the other hand, a report from Dumka said that at Basukinath so far 1.05 kanwariyas had paid their obeisance at the temple out of which 3740 opted for Shighra darshanam. During the day the temple collected Rs 7519 as offerings from the devotees. On the other hand, the temple management sold 14 silver coins of 10 grams and a silver coins of 5 gram each.

The district administration has meanwhile made elaborate preparations in wake fourth and last Somvari of the Shravan Month keeping in mind the huge rush of kanwariyas.
