Army jawan kills wife, flees leaving two children behind

Ranchi: A jawan of the army killed his wife in the Army Cantt area located at Dipatoli under Sadar Police Station area of the state capital and later fled from the spot leaving his two children behind.

The accused Army jawan who hailed from Maharashtra has been identified as Deshpal Athawale, who stabbed his wife Manisha Athawale to death late Thursday night and fled from the spot. Police said that an army officer rang up the police station informing about the incident after which police reached at the spot.

The crime to notice as people gathered outside the house of Athawale hearing the cries of the two children. Athawale along with his family had been posted in Ranchi for the last 18 months and was living with his wife and two children at the army quarters in Dipatoli. Police later sent the body for postmortem. Search was on to nab the absconding jawan.
