Dumka: Angry villagers beat to death a thief who was caught red-handed in Chihuntia village under Jarmundi Police Station area of this district.
Dumka SP YS Ramesh said the thief who has been beaten to death by the villagers has been identified as Bhola Hazra of Larighaghar village of Taljhari Police Station area. The SP said that against deceased Bhola Hazra case in Sarwan of Deoghar district apart from that in Punjab and other states for loot and dacoity was also registered and he had also served prison terms on previous occasions for loot and dacoity.
He said that initial investigation has revealed that Hazra along with his three other associates was stealing items from a house late last night when suddenly the house owner woke up and raised an alarm after which villagers gathered and managed to catch Hazra who was beaten to death. The SP said that Hazra also featured in the name of most wanted of Dumka police.
