
Koderma: Acting on a secret tip-off the Koderma police has seized 2.46 quintals of Ganja whose cost has been estimated to be worth Rs 20 lakh and has arrested two smuggler’s who were trying to smuggle the prohibited substance in a car from Visakhapatnam of Andhra Pradesh to Bihar.
The arrested have been identified as Munna Rai and Santosh Das hailing from Vaishali district of Bihar. Addressing a Press Conference here Koderma SP M Tamilvanan said that a case in this regard has been registered against the two smugglers and the vehicle owner along with the people who were involved in buying and selling of Ganja and the car used in transportation has been also seized.
He said that the arrested youth have confessed that they used to act as a courier and transported Ganja from one place to another and return for per trip they used to get Rs 10000. He said that the car belongs to one Jitendra Rai of Patna.
The SP said that the police had received a secret tip-off regarding smuggling of cattle from Nawada in a truck after which a vehicle checking drive was conducted at Bagitand during which a car was apprehended and upon checking it was found that it was filled with a large number of packets and further probe proved that they were filled with Ganja.
